Missouri Awards Tax Credits for Start-Up Lab Space in St. Louis' Cortex District

JEFFERSON CITY - State officials approved $1.5 million in tax credits Tuesday to support the development of new lab space in the Cortex district of St. Louis.

The Missouri Development Finance Authority voted unanimously to approve the deal with BioSTL, which operates BioGenerator Labs.

The money will help BioSTL consolidate its offices and lab space at the Crescent Building at 4340 Duncan Avenue, a former Post-Dispatch printing plant under development by BOBB LLC, a company affiliated with Washington University.

"This will allow them to consolidate from three separate locations," said finance authority executive director Robert Miserez.

BioGenerator Labs, which offers affordable lab space to growing companies, will be the latest addition to the booming Cortex district. The recently completed 4220 building, where Microsoft and professional services Aon are locating their St. …
