Passers-By Stop Sick Yob from Urinating on Cenotaph

A MAN tried to urinate on the cenotaph in St Peter's Square, but was stopped when members of the public confronted him.

Images taken from CCTV cameras in Manchester city centre show the man standing against the war memorial.

But passers-by quickly intervened to prevent him.

A man and two women were captured on camera confronting the man. He can then be seen stepping away from the cenotaph.

Greater Manchester Police said they have arrested a 58-year-old man in connection with the incident, which took place on Wednesday night at 10.50pm.

The man is being held on suspicion of outraging public decency.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at 10.50pm on Wednesday, January 16, to a report of a man acting drunk and disorderly in St Peter's Square, Manchester city centre. …
