Scholes Holds Latics Talks over Vacant Manager Role

PAUL SCHOLES may have to give up his ownership of Salford City if he is to become the new Oldham Athletic manager.

It is understood the United legend has held talks with the Latics over becoming the new boss at Boundary Park following the sacking of Frankie Bunn last month.

The 44-year-old was at the Moss Rose on Saturday to see Oldham's 2-1 League Two defeat at the hands of Macclesfield Town.

It was caretaker boss Pete Wild's first defeat since taking over the post, during which time he has also seen Oldham secure a place in next weekend's fourth round of the FA Cup against Doncaster after beating Premier League Fulham.

Scholes has always said he would like to manage Oldham at some point having been a boyhood Latics fan, and held talks with the club over the role when Richie Wellens was appointed manager in October 2017. …
