OLE Gunnar Solskjaer says he is 'not surprised' by reports that Arsenal attempted to sign United's Eric Bailly on loan this month.

The defender has started once under the new boss and was sent off as the Reds beat Bournemouth 4-1 last month.

Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof have since established themselves as United's first-choice defensive partnership.

Former United manager Jose Mourinho made Bailly his first signing in a £30m deal in 2016 but the Ivorian endured a wretched start to the current campaign.

Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo - United's other senior centre-halves - are injured and United reportedly rejected Arsenal's request to loan Bailly.

"I'm not surprised if they do," Solskjaer said of Arsenal's apparent attempt to recruit Bailly. …
