(EU-Davos-World-Economic-Forum)

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (AH'-bay) has used his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to tout the benefits of two recent "mega deals" in trade.

He referred to the Trans Pacific Partnership, which includes Canada among its partners, and the E-U-Japan Economic Partnership agreement that comes into force next month.

Abe also told the gathering of business, academic and political elites that Japan, the European Union and the U-S must work together to reform the World Trade Organization, notably on rules about government subsidies.(5)

(BC-Legislature-Suspension)

B-C's attorney general says the fiery report released Monday by the Speaker of the B-C legislature alleging flagrant spending abuses by two top officials contains some disturbing allegations and also raises broader concerns within the assembly about a lack of oversight.

David Eby says clerk Craig James and sergeant-at-arms Gary Lenz have until February 1st to respond to the explosive report.

Both men, who have been on administrative leave since being walked out of the legislature without explanation in November, deny any wrongdoing.

(Alta-Kenney-Expenses)

A lawyer accusing Alberta's United Conservative leader of breaking parliamentary residency rules when he served as a Calgary M-P won't say which regulation he believes Jason Kenney broke.

Kyle Morrow says only that the longtime former M-P broke rules while in Stephen Harper's cabinet from 2013 to 2015.

Morrow has posted travel and expense documents questioning why Kenney listed a Calgary home as his primary residence when flight records suggest he spent little time there.

Kenney's staff said Morrow's accusations are false.(5)
