A THIEF has been banned from every car park in Manchester city centre.

Mark Kershaw, 27, was hit with a two-year criminal behaviour order after being convicted of theft from a motor vehicle.

He must stay away from any public or private car park - which are often hotspots for crime - in the city centre.

The order also bans Kershaw, of no fixed address, from being in possession of a 'bladed article' in the city centre for two years.

Kershaw was dealt with by a judge at Manchester magistrates court.

He risks arrest if he fails to adhere to the rules of the order.

Police are increasingly asking the courts to impose CBOs in the battle against anti-social behaviour and crime, particularly in and around the city centre.

They are available as an option once someone has been convicted of a criminal offence. …
