The Steelers are not going to hire a replacement for former outside linebackers coach Joey Porter and will instead have defensive coordinator Keith Butler assume the role in addition to his current duties, according to sources.

Butler was the team's linebackers coach for 12 years before he was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2015.

The move is not uncommon for the Steelers: Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner still serves as the team's quarterbacks coach as well.

The Steelers do not believe Butler's expanded duties will interfere with his job as defensive coordinator for several reasons.
