Lukaku Speaks out in Support of Former United Boss

UNITED'S Romelu Lukaku has spoken out in support of former boss Jose Mourinho and has revealed his hopes for the rest of the season.

The striker was a near everpresent in the Reds side under the Portuguese manager as Mourinho deployed the 25-year-old as a target man.

But Lukaku, who has only won 51 per cent of his aerial duels this season, was well below par over the first half of this campaign and came in for criticism for his performances.

Yet he remained complimentary of Mourinho and spoke about the respect he has for the man who brought him to Old Trafford.

The Belgian striker said: "I believe that Mourinho has done a lot for this club.

"He won trophies, so I have a lot of respect for him. He is the coach who signed me."

Lukaku started his first Premier League game under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Burnley on Tuesday night, but he's having more of an impact on the team now than he did under Mourinho. …
