Jury Selection Begins for Man Accused of Killing St. Louis County Police Officer

CLAYTON - Jury selection began Wednesday in the trial of a man accused of murdering a St. Louis County police officer in October 2016.

A pool of about 150 potential jurors were called for the case. Jurors were screened in groups of 14 on Wednesday about what they had seen or read about the high-profile shooting, and any reasons they could not serve as jurors.

Attorneys hope to narrow the pool to 60 by Thursday for further questioning and aim to have a jury picked by Friday.

Opening statements are scheduled for Monday.

Trenton Forster, 20, of the 9500 block of Sequoia Court in unincorporated St. Louis County, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the fatal shooting on Oct. 6, 2016, of Officer Blake Snyder, 33, of Edwardsville. …
