Artist Wears Boots Splattered in Paint to Royal Ceremony

ARTIST Rose Wylie has attended Buckingham Palace to receive her OBE in paintsplattered work boots and a bright yellow hat.

Wylie, famous for her brightly coloured abstract paintings, is also known for her rebellious fashion choices, and often wears the same clothes in an effort to avoid consumerism.

Speaking at Buckingham Palace yesterday, where she was awarded the OBE by the Duke of Cambridge for services to art, Wylie said: "I'm a huge non-consumer and I think that the work shows that - I'm using what I've got.

"I think possibly that in the world there is too much consumerism that goes on, really.

"I'm green and I don't consume and I wear all of the same stuff all of the time. I've lived in the same house for years and I'm not always buying new things. I suppose that's a message (of my work) in a way. …
