Craft Store Pat Catan's Set to Close Its Doors

Pat Catan's craft and floral stores will be closing in the next few months, a move that includes five locations in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The parent company, Michaels Companies Inc., plans to reopen up to 12 of the former Pat Catan's locations under the Michaels banner later this year, the company announced Wednesday. It didn't specify which stores would reopen under the Michaels name.

The Michaels Companies owns and operates more than 1,200 stores in 49 states and Canada under the brands Michaels, Aaron Brothers and Pat Catan's. The company bought Pat Catan's, a 36-store arts and crafts chain in Ohio and surrounding states, in 2016.

"The Pat Catan's retail business has struggled in the face of industry headwinds," Chuck Rubin, chairman and CEO of The Michaels Companies, said in a statement.

There are Pat Catan's locations in Monroeville, Pleasant Hills, McKees Rocks, Ohio Township and Aliquippa. …
