A CASH machine was blasted out of the wall at a Co-op days after robbers armed with a gun and a hammer raided the shop.

Images from the store, in the Brooklands area of Sale, show the trail of destruction left by thugs.

The cash machine was destroyed and the entrance to the store was left a mess, with wooden panels seen propped up inside.

Light fixtures fell from the ceiling, while crates of vegetables and other items were strewn across the floor.

A cordon was put up around the Maple Road shop, which was shut yesterday, as police searched the scene for clues.

Thieves struck in the early hours of the morning when the store was empty.
