CEOs Promise 'Energy and Resources' for St. Louis City-County Merger

Civic Progress and the St. Louis Regional Chamber, the region's two most prominent business organizations, officially committed on Wednesday the business community's "time, energy and resources" to the effort to merge St. Louis, St. Louis County and all of the county municipalities into one metro city.

The two groups, made up of more than 100 of the region's top executives, also called on St. Louisans to support the unification advocacy group Better Together's proposal.

"We believe that the current fragmented approach to governance between the City and the County has created a situation that no one ever imagined or wanted," said Wednesday's announcement, signed by Chamber chairman Tom Minogue, head of the Thompson Coburn law firm, and Civic Progress chairwoman Suzanne Sitherwood, president and CEO of gas company Spire. …
