A 'SWEATING and paranoid' man was detained by police after butting his way into a house and going on a destructive 'rampage.' .

The incident occurred at a property on Lauderdale Crescent, Longsight, Manchester, while the occupant and her two children were inside.

The family were forced to barricade themselves in one of the bedrooms for safety.

Pc John Ward, of GMP Moss Side, attended the scene. He said: "It originally started on Sparrow Street. We had reports that a man was seen in gardens. He then ran down the street and entered the property on Lauderdale Crescent.

"He headbutted the patio doors through and went on a rampage in the property.

"He had ripped wardrobes around and pulled up a double bed. When we entered the room, he was using the mattress as a shield. …
