TORONTO - The fantasy show "A Series of Unfortunate Events" has won several prizes at a new awards gala for the best costumes in Canadian film, television and media.

The Vancouver-shot Netflix show swept the three categories in which it was nominated at the Canadian Alliance of Film & Television Costume Arts & Design awards.

That includes best costume illustration for Keith Lau, excellence in textile arts for Sage Lovett and best costume design in sci-fi/fantasy T-V for Cynthia Summers.

Oscar-nominated designer Luis Sequeira won best costume design in a period film for his work on the Cold War-era love story "The Shape of Water," about a mute woman who falls in love with a sea creature. …
