Scholes Hails His Former Youth Coach as a 'Genius'

PAUL Scholes paid tribute to Eric Harrison, hailing him a genius.

Scholes began his youth career at United in 1991 and worked with Harrison for two years before he was introduced into Sir Alex Ferguson's first-team in 1993.

"Eric was a genius as a coach," said Scholes, who has just taken over as manager of Oldham.

"There was something special about him.

"He had a major influence on my playing career and taught me everything I know now today.

"He was a really tough man to play for, but that's what made us into the street-wise players that we became.

"He taught us how to play football the Manchester United Way and how to handle ourselves on and off the pitch, along with others such as Brian Kidd.

"It's a really sad day and all our thoughts are with his family at this sade time. …
