Dave Dickenson Is Back in Grey Cup as Coach of the Calgary Stampeders

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada— Dave Dickenson will find out on Sunday evening if his third consecutive appearance in the Grey Cup as head coach of the Calgary Stampeders will be the charm.

Dickenson, a star quarterback at the University of Montana in the 1990s and for 11 years in the Canadian Football League, will direct his Stampeders against the Ottawa Redblacks in the 106th Grey Cup.

The game is set to begin at 4 p.m. Mountain time at Commonwealth Stadium.

The last four, and six of the last nine Grey Cups, have been decided by six points or less.

Dickenson's Stampeders have lost in the last two Grey Cups, including a 39-33 overtime game against Ottawa in 2016.

He will be trying to avoid being the first head coach to lose three years in a row since 1956.

Calgary lost to Toronto 27-24 in last year's Grey Cup.

The Redblacks are playing in the Grey Cup for the third time in the last four years.

This time around, Calgary (15-5) has beaten Ottawa (13-7) twice during the regular season by scores of 24-14 and 27-3. …
