Worker Discovers Gun and Bullets in Skipyard

A FIREARM and bullets were found in a sorting container at a skipyard.

A BB gun, initially believed to be a handgun, and ammunition were found in a sorting container by a worker at Salford Skip Hire.

The discovery was made at the waste firm's base in Cobden Street, Salford - near to where an arms stash was found on Duchy Road last week.

Police would not confirm whether the two discoveries are being linked.

A spokesman for the force said it was unclear where the gun and ammunition had been dumped before it turned up at Salford Skip Hire on Wednesday.

Mark Rogers, materials recycling facility manager at Salford Skip Hire, said the gun and bullets were found by a member of staff on the waste picking line.

"The police sent an armed response unit," said Mr Rogers. …
