Will City's Brilliant Trio Get Nod for Wembley?

FOR months, City fans were desperate to see the return of the triumvirate that won them the Premier League title.

Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva started together in midfield for 18 of the first 20 games of their Centurions campaign - but injury to the Belgian forced Pep Guardiola to change his plans this season.

As strong as they were, the expectation was that once that trio were reunited it would lift City's game to another level.

Except it hasn't happened like that. Newcastle away was the first league game they were all in the same XI, and it was one of the most tepid performances so far with Guardiola publicly criticising his midfield after the defeat. It has not really been repeated since either.

All three have started games with Arsenal and Schalke, but with Fernandinho spending a good chunk of his time at centre-back and Ilkay Gundogan also included to push Guardiola's dream of a whole team of midfielders closer. …
