CITY could enter an exclusive club occupied by only a handful of teams if they beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final tomorrow.

After winning the trophy in last year's final in a dominant 3-0 victory over Arsenal, the Blues have the chance to retain the trophy when they face Chelsea - a team they destroyed 6-0 just two weeks ago.

Should they do so, City will become only the fourth team in history to retain the League Cup.

The only other clubs to have lifted the trophy in consecutive years since it was formed in 1961 are Nottingham Forest - who've actually achieved the feat twice in 1978-1979 and in 1989-1990 - Liverpool, who won it four years on the bounce in 1981, '82, '83 and '84, and United, who lifted the cup two years on the spin in 2009 and 2010. Retaining trophies is notoriously difficult to do, in England at least, so winning the League Cup two years in a row would be another impressive accolade for Pep Guardiola's side. …
