VANCOUVER. x-19s. The B-C Centre on Substance Use is recommending legally regulated heroin for as a radical way to reduce overdose deaths and profits for organized criminals behind illicit fentanyl. It says so-called heroin compassion clubs would provide the uncontaminated drug to entrenched opioid users and link them to health services and treatment. Doctor Evan Wood is the centre's executive director and an author of the report, and he says the user-led clubs represent a public health response to a crisis that has caused over three thousand deaths in B-C alone in the last two years.
