Solskjaer Can't Repeat Lingard Mistake with Martial

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer has got a lot of things right during his time in charge of United but his decision to introduce Jesse Lingard against Liverpool was not one of them.

United were already a substitute down in a bizarre opening period on Sunday when United's No.14, just 12 days after picking up a hamstring injury against PSG, was introduced in place of Juan Mata. Solskjaer must've known bringing Lingard on was a risk and it was one that backfired shortly before half-time as the Norwegian was forced into making his third and final substitution, the 26-year-old's hamstring having failed him just 18 minutes after coming on.

Not only did Solskjaer put Lingard's long-term fitness at risk by bringing him on, he also risked Marcus Rashford aggravating the ankle injury he sustained just minutes into the match when he was clattered into by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. …
