Pittsburgh's rich cultural scene has a place for groups big and small. Each fills a niche, and each contributes in its own way, so the comeback of the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media is cause for celebration.

The nonprofit, formerly known as Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, has been around for decades. It offers classes, exhibit space and equipment to filmmakers, photographers, ceramic specialists, painters, jewelry makers and other artists, many of whom, in turn, make their work available to the public. No other arts group in Pittsburgh offers exactly the same services.

The center's recent financial problems left arts lovers holding their breath, much like PICT Classic Theatre's travails did in 2015. But the center appears to be turning the corner- just as PICT is trying to do - and its future has brightened. …
