KEVIN de Bruyne feels he is suffering from comparisons to his scintillating form last season.

The City midfielder has been slowly easing himself back into the flow of the action after missing virtually the entire first half of the current season through injury.

And, while his form has not hit the heights of last year, when he was runner-up to Liverpool's Mo Salah for player of the year, he winces at the idea that the two campaigns are being compared.

De Bruyne is no longer an automatic first choice for Pep Guardiola, largely due to the increasing influence of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan.
