City 'Won't Be Weaker' after Gruelling Cup Final Win

FORMER City manager Manuel Pellegrini does not expect the Blues to be weaker after their cup final exploits on Sunday.

City lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley but were only able to win the game in a penalty shoot-out after a gruelling 120 minutes against Chelsea ended 0-0. The victory came at a cost, as key players Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho both limped off with injuries.

But Pellegrini isn't expecting an easier game against his former side when he brings his West Ham team to the Etihad tonight.

"Manchester City played extra-time and penalties against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday but I don't think they will be weaker than normal," he said. "Playing 120 minutes, of course, is a lot, a long game, but they have a strong squad, they can make the changes that they want and continue to have the best squad in the Premier League. …
