I

The wind is still; the trees are not

dancing; icicles too cold for the sun

to melt, gap-toothed hang

off my porch roof.

II

From time to time I take

a selfie to see what I really look like.

A mirror reflects but I can see into a mirror.

"I am that age," I say, exit Photos.

III

I have always been surrounded by books;

more so these last two years where

divorce has silenced so much.

I turn to what can be read

still drawn to, baffled by sign

I can't read but always find

though I am not looking for it.

IV

I write to stay alive. It's pretty

simple though not therapy-

not to write would then demand

therapy.

My eyes, heart have never

adjusted to things as they have been-

writing helps me see and feel things as they are. …
