A former Allegheny County police officer who worked in narcotics was charged Wednesday for his role in the overdose death of a 15-year-old female relative staying at his home in 2017.

Daniel Bondi, 43, repeatedly bought fentanyl for personal use and brought it into the Realty Avenue home in Beechview that he shared with the teenager, according to the state attorney general's office following a grand jury investigation.

The teen, who was not identified, died July 27, 2017, after ingesting fentanyl, the attorney general's office said.

While investigating the death, detectives found three stamp bags of fentanyl-laced heroin and a syringe in the teenager's bedroom. The stamp bags, marked "XXX" in blue ink, matched some of the hundreds of stamp bags found in Mr. Bondi's bedroom, the attorney general's office said. …
