Warning as Storm Set to Batter the Region

STORM Freya is set to batter Greater Manchester this weekend with 65mph winds and heavy downpours.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning.

It is in place from 3pm tomorrow until 6am on Monday morning, with the whole of the region included.

According to forecasters the storm is expected to push quickly from north Wales to north east England, bringing potential gusts of 55 to 65mph across the country.

The warning says there could be travel disruption, the risk of flying debris, damage to buildings and power cuts.

A statement on the Met Office website said: "Storm Freya is expected to push quickly north-east across parts of England, Wales and southern Scotland through Sunday afternoon and evening, before clearing into the North Sea through the early part of Monday. …
