ALEXIS Sanchez could have suffered knee ligament damage in the second half of United's win over Southampton, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Sanchez limped off in the 51st minute and was replaced by Diogo Dalot, who almost immediately created a chance for Marcus Rashford and assisted Andreas Pereira's 53rd-minute equaliser.

United already have three forwards sidelined through injury in Anthony Martial (groin), Juan Mata (hamstring) and Jesse Lingard (hamstring). Martial could be back for the Champions League game with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday but Sanchez seems set to be out for a lengthy period.

"We don't know yet," Solskjaer said when asked about the extent of Sanchez's injury. "We haven't checked it too much, it might be the ligament. It was a bad knock on his knee, we'll do a scan tomorrow but we don't know until we've done the scan. …
