Blues Could Face Transfer Ban over Teenage Signing

CITY face a hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport next month over the signing of Argentine teenager Benjamin Garre.

A date has been set for July 3 with the CAS listing City, the FA and FIFA in the dispute with Velez Sarsfield.

The highly-rated Garre was signed last year, aged 16. Velez lodged a complaint with FIFA, claiming City's approach came when the player was still a minor, aged 15.

FIFA have strict rules regarding the signing of minors - but cleared City of any wrong-doing in September.

That Garre holds an Italian passport means he was allowed to move to another country at 16, rather than 18 for non-EU players.

Should Velez's complaints be upheld by the CAS, potential punishments include a transfer embargo, as handed out to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in recent years. …
