Bishop: Act Now to Save the Planet for Our Children

THE head of the Catholic church in Greater Manchester has written to all schools and parishes over climate change, saying people must make changes to their lives before "matters become irreversible".

The Bishop of Salford, the Right Rev John Arnold, said the issue could not be left to Governments to remedy.

In an impassioned and unprecedented plea, he wrote: "Without immediate and sustained action, we will inflict irreparable damage on our planet which will adversely affect the lives of our children and future generations.

"We are coming to understand what we have done and we have time to correct the damage. A great deal of difference can be made through a number of small actions in our lives."

His call came after thousands of young protesters walked out of school last month and gathered in Manchester and other cities over climate change. …
