Ince: Lack of Liverpool Goal Threat Gives City the Edge

FORMER United and Liverpool player Paul Ince has highlighted a huge difference between City and their title rivals that could prove to be decisive.

The Blues sit one point clear of the Reds with nine games remaining after Jurgen Klopp's side suffered a second goalless draw in a row away from home, raising questions about their title credentials. With the established forwards misfiring, Liverpool's threat in front of goal has been reduced significantly by the fact that the midfield players are not contributing enough in the final third - whereas City do not have that problem.

That could prove to be Liverpool's downfall in their quest for a first league title in 29 years and may play into the hands of City.

"Liverpool are so reliant on their top three, it feels like for me that the midfield players don't feel they have to get involved in scoring goals, it's more about providing the service for those three, and they're also very similar," Ince said. …
