TWO men were arrested by an elite police team after a woman was robbed by violent carjackers.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) were mobilised after the 51-year-old victim was robbed of her Skoda.

The metal bar found in the car During the theft in Salford the victim was threatened with an iron bar and two thugs also threatened to stab her.

A short time later the stolen vehicle was spotted by officers from the TVIU who pursued it.

The offenders refused to stop and rammed police cars during the chase.

Eventually two men bailed out of the Skoda and one was brought down by a police dog, a force spokesman said.

A metal bar was recovered from the stolen car.

A GMP spokesman said: "Two men - aged 32 and 19 - were arrested on suspicion of robbery. …
