A THUG who terrorised a pub manager with a knife after he was asked to stop smoking has had his sentence backed by senior judges.

Darren Paul Brown, 51, was jailed for 28 months at Manchester Crown Court last May after he admitted making threats with a bladed article and assault by beating. He also pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm after attacking his flatmate with a pint glass.

Brown whipped out a knife in the bar of the Trevor Arms, in Chorlton, after the manager asked him to stop smoking, London's Appeal Court heard.

The manager suffered a small cut to his arm as he tried to grab the blade, but finally managed to push Brown out through the door.

Brown, however, ended up with a fractured jaw when other pub-goers dished out "mob justice" outside, said Mrs Justice Elisabeth Laing. …
