WINNIPEG. x-7s. Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister says his long-promised cut to the provincial sales tax will take effect July 1st, regardless of any opposition delay tactics. Pallister says the tax cut was promised long ago and will help Manitobans.

TAG: The Progressive Conservatives announced in this week's budget that the sales tax will drop from eight per cent to seven per cent on Canada Day. But there's no guarantee the budget bill will be passed by the legislature by then. Pallister says the former N-D-P government raised the sales tax in 2013, five months before the required bill was passed.
