Sullivan comes up short against Logan-Rogersville

Sullivan High boys basketball coach Dino McKinney could tell right away that his team was going to have trouble with a taller Logan-Rogersville team on Saturday in a Class 4 state quarterfinal contest at Waynesville High.

"Warming up, we looked like a JV team compared to them," he said.

McKinney's observation proved to be correct.

Logan-Rogersville (24-5) used its size to wear down the Eagles 57-49 in the Elite Eight contest.

Sullivan (23-7) had no starters taller than 6-foot-1. Logan-Rogersville possesses a pair of 6-4 skyscrapers.

Still, Sullivan managed to stay close until the end. The Eagles took a 43-40 lead midway through the final period before the Wildcats went on a 17-6 run to close the contest.

"Without any size, to do what these kids did, was pretty amazing," McKinney said. …
