Sharks Boss Diamond Will Take 'Ugly' Win over Leicester

STEVE Diamond was pleased with the way Sale recovered from a disappointing first-half performance in their comfortable victory over 14-man Leicester Tigers.

The Sharks scored six tries as they defeated a weakened Leicester side 32-5 at the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday.

Director of Rugby Diamond thought his team were poor in the first half, however, but was pleased with their response after the break.

"It wasn't very pretty," he said. "Fair play to Leicester, they were ravaged with injury and international call-ups and they put up a really good fight in the first half.

"Combine that with us, for some reason, having a lethargy about us - making mistake after mistake after mistake - and what Leicester wanted to do with the team they had was stay close.

"I was a bit disappointed about the first half but I thought we played a lot better in the second half. …
