BURY manager Ryan Lowe praised his side's character as they grabbed a late winner to beat Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium.

Nicky Maynard's header four minutes into injury time secured the three points in Hertfordshire as the Shakers extended their unbeaten run in the league to 13 games.

Chances were limited for both sides in the first half with returning captain Neil Danns getting the best of them after 26 minutes as he latched on to Nicky Adams' low ball and saw his shot saved by Stevenage goalkeeper Paul Farman.

Substitute Jordan Gibson was played through one-on-one with Joe Murphy eight minutes from time, but the forward blasted his shot over the crossbar.

But with a second consecutive draw looming, the Shakers broke the deadlock with just 60 seconds of injury time remaining. …
