Frontenac Approves Plan to Replace Trailer Park with Luxury Town Homes

FRONTENAC - Eighteen luxury town homes will replace an old trailer park that has been in existence longer than the city of Frontenac.

The Board of Aldermen gave final approval Tuesday to a plan by Payne Family Homes to buy the three-acre Daniel Boone Mobile Home Park on South Forty Drive and develop single-family town homes that will cost more than $1 million each.

The vote was 4-3 with Mayor Margot Martin casting the tie-breaking vote.

Nearby Frontenac residents opposed to the plan debated with aldermen and others for more than an hour Tuesday night. Opponents said the plan was too dense for the site and would adversely affect traffic.

Martin countered that the plan had been studied and developed since August and appeared to be the best for the site.

The mobile home park precedes the city of Frontenac, which was incorporated in 1947 and has a population of about 3,600. …
