TOBY Alderweireld has put United on red alert by admitting he is unsure whether or not he will still be playing for Tottenham next season.

The Belgian international has just over a year left on his current deal with the London club and a release clause in his current contract means he could leave for a bargain £26m fee at the end of the season.

Alderweireld continues to be closely monitored by United as they look to strengthen their back line in the summer transfer window, with the 30-year-old held in high regard by club hierarchy.

Jose Mourinho was interested in a move for the Spurs defender last summer but United were priced out of a deal despite Ed Woodward's audacious attempt to sign him before the World Cup began.
