Saskatchewan's Opposition is calling on Premier Scott Moe to distance himself from the yellow vest movement.

N-D-P Leader Ryan Meili pressed the matter during question period yesterday, calling on Moe to instruct his cabinet ministers not to attend yellow vest rallies.

Earlier this year, an N-D-P member questioned why Minister of Highways and Infrastructure Lori Carr and Minister for Rural and Remote Health Greg Ottenbreit attended yellow vest rallies.

Moe said ministers who attended the rallies did so specifically to oppose federal energy policies, and says his government condemns comments that are anti-immigrant and Islamophobic. (The Canadian Press)



Alberta's first legislation of the spring session is a bill to protect public health care.

Health Minister Sarah Hoffman says Bill 1 reinforces the tenets of universal accessibility of public care, and says that under the proposed legislation clinics will not be allowed to charge membership fees.

Hoffman says she wants to address concerns that such private medical clinics charge annual fees for access to non-insured services, but in doing so may also get their patients faster access to insured services. (The Canadian Press)



R-C-M-P say a 36-year-old Calgary man has died after being swept up in an avalanche in Banff National Park.

Const. Mike Hibbs says two men were skiing in the backcountry near Egypt Lake on Saturday when they were caught in the slide.

Police say the first man freed the other and went to the Egypt Lake shelter for help.

Parks Canada says the injured man was taken to Banff Mineral Springs Hospital where he later died. (Global Calgary)
