FREDERICTON x-9s. New Brunswick's minority Tory government has tabled a 9.8 billion dollar budget -- projecting a 23 million dollar surplus. Finance Minister Ernie Steeves says the net debt is currently 14.1 billion dollars and is expected to decline by 49 million dollars by this time next year.

TAG: The budget contains no new taxes or fee increases, and no apparent major cuts in programs and services. The government will spend more than 16 million dollars to increase wages for home support workers and 2.4 million dollars to recruit and retain more nurses. The government will also offer legislation to reintroduce the New Brunswick Tuition Tax Credit.
