THURSDAY TO SUNDAY, MARCH 31 Preview - Festival / Not Quite Light Weekend 2019 One of the great pleasures of living in a big city is witnessing how it can transform in the space of 24 hours - the sudden changes in mood, character and energy when daytime becomes evening.

For Salford-based artist and photographer Simon Buckley, those magical changes - between dawn and sunrise, sunset and dusk - have inspired him to launch a unique arts festival devoted to his home city, the Not Quite Light Weekend.

Returning for its third outing, the Not Quite Light Weekend uses the theme of dawn and dusk as inspiration for a fascinating, debate-sparking festival of arts, music and performance. At the heart of the festival is Salford itself, exploring the city's recent change and regeneration.

Comprising 30 events spread over 12 venues, this year's line-up features the world premiere of a new play, Beneath These Tarmac Cracks, telling the story of a Salford woman who has developed a regenerative neurological disease (March 29, Five Four Studios). …
