MATTHEW Parkinson hasn't given up hope of one day playing in the Big Bash.

The Lancashire spinner had secured a contract to play for the Melbourne Stars in the second half of the Australian T20 bonanza.

However, a stress fracture to his back - his second in just over two years - ruled him out of the trip.

He is now back bowling again after a long rehab and is looking forward to the new county season with the Red Rose on tour in Dubai. And he feels that he will still get a chance to show his talents in one of the biggest T20 tournaments in the world.

"The back is good, I've been bowling now for the last two months, probably flat out for the last month," said the 22-year-old England Lions ace.

"I have been taking a more considered approach, not just bowling 25 overs and then 25 overs the next day. …
