Scott Reaps Rewards of Being Back in Pole Position for Solskjaer

SCOTT McTominay has suggested his performances at United have improved because he has been playing in his preferred position on a consistent basis.

McTominay was deployed in a back three on several occasions under Jose Mourinho earlier this season and struggled to adapt in the role, particularly in games against West Ham and Newcastle.

He has rebuilt his reputation under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a string of impressive displays against Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old deputised magnificently for the injured Nemanja Matic during each of those four games and he believes he has benefited from a run of games in his best position at the base of midfield.

"There have been times when it's been so, so tough, you're playing out of position and you're not quite sure exactly how you're perceived and what your role is going forward," McTominay said. …
