IKEA MAKES A SOUND INVESTMENT IKEA will continue its adventures in the world of smart technology with the introduction of new smartspeakers next month.

The Swedish flat-pack giants have teamed up with high-end smart-speaker makers Sonos to create a "more affordable" set up.

Ikea has already teased some prototype designs, but will reveal its plans in full at a special event in Milan on April 9. The Symfonisk speakers will be a welcome addition to the Ikea smart-home line-up, which already includes the Tradfri lighting range - by far the cheapest way to bring smart tech to your home.

The Symfonisk speakers are expected to go on sale in August - and should cost less than Sonos's offerings, which start at £199.
