CALGARY. x-11s. Alberta's New Democrats say if re-elected, the government would spend one billion dollars over 10 years to protect Calgary from another major flood. Leader Rachel Notley says the money would come out of the province's Climate Leadership Plan, which includes a 30-dollar-per-tonne carbon tax. Notley says three project options upstream of Calgary are already being considered which would be in addition to the Springbank Dam west of the city. Notley says her chief rival, United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney, can't be trusted to protect Calgary from future floods.
