Antwon Rose's Father Files Motion to Move Civil Lawsuit Forward

The father of Antwon Rose II has filed a motion in federal court to lift the stay on a civil suit against ex-police Officer Michael Rosfeld and East Pittsburgh.

Antwon, 17, was fatally shot by Mr. Rosfeld following a felony traffic stop on June 19, 2018, in East Pittsburgh.

The motion, filed Saturday by attorney Monte Rabner, notified the attorneys for Mr. Rosfeld, East Pittsburgh Mayor Louis J. Payne and police Chief Lori Fruncek that a response on the civil complaint was requested within 21 days.

On Sept. 25, 2018, U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab ordered a stay on the civil case until criminal proceedings were finished.

A jury acquitted Mr. Rosfeld on Friday on all charges related to the death of Antwon.

"As such, there is no continuing or compelling reason to stay these proceedings," Saturday's motion read. …
