Cyclist Causes Car to Plough into Road Sign

A CYCLIST crossed in front of moving traffic, causing a car to swerve and smash into a street sign.

The incident took place on Newbrook Road, Over Hulton, Bolton.

In a CCTV clip two teenage cyclists can be seen cycling up to a pedestrian crossing.

One of the boys decides to turn onto the crossing, but a silver Ford Focus is approaching.

The car swerves out of the way of the cyclist, but ends up ploughing into a street sign. In the footage, the boy can be seen continuing to cycle on the road, not stopping at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police's traffic unit attended and has launched an investigation.

The driver was not thought to be seriously injured, but the car has been written off.

GMP officers shared an image of the damaged Ford Focus on Twitter and wrote: "Just dealing with a road traffic collision on Newbrook road, Over Hul-ton. …
