Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is being accused of breaking Parliamentary rules when he ejected former cabinet ministers Jane Philpott and Jody Wilson-Raybould from the Liberal caucus.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Philpott says if Trudeau had followed the rules, it would have taken 90 Liberal M-Ps to vote to kick her and Wilson-Raybould out.

But she says he unilaterally decided to remove them out without a vote and before an emergency caucus meeting last week.

Wilson-Raybould and Philpott resigned from cabinet over the way the S-N-C-Lavalin controversy has been handled, and Trudeau announced after that caucus meeting that their expulsion was the result of broken trust between them and the rest of the party. (10)



Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says politicians can disagree, but they cannot lie about partisan adversaries.

Trudeau was asked on his way into a cabinet meeting in Ottawa today about his threat to sue Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer for his claims that the prime minister interfered with the prosecution of Montreal firm S-N-C-Lavalin.

Trudeau says with an election on the horizon, he won't put up with politicians twisting the truth and distorting reality. (10)



The national-security committee of parliamentarians says the government should consider legislation to govern defence intelligence activities.

In a new report, the committee points out there is little outside scrutiny of the National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, despite having one of the largest intelligence programs in the country.

The committee also recommends the military be required to report annually on its intelligence operations. (10)
